6 Ways And Places You Find Love
By BRIANNA WIEST
You will find love once you decide to leave your past grievances in the past. Think that’s simple, over-said advice? You’re not wrong– but how many of us have actually done it? You can’t move forward if every person you meet you compare to someone else, or some part of you is still holding out for the one that got away. If you want something new, embrace newness.
In your favorite places. No, I’m serious. We portray the search for love as this manhunt– err, womanhunt too– like everybody is hiding out and we have to uncover them when really they’re all just living their lives too. Sometimes it takes a little disconnect from focusing only on our thoughts and plans and looking around and what’s really there.
At the end of the road you follow to something you love. Join new groups and do new things, but do them because you want to, not because you want to find love. I promise you that the latter will not work. People can sense when you’re looking for love, and for some reason, it’s as though the “challenge” of it is taken away. It’s weird, yes, but people are most attracted to others when it seems as though they are just going about their lives, enjoying themselves.
Outside of your comfort zone. You can’t expect to do the same things over and over and get a different result, right? Isn’t that the definition of insanity? Many times it takes doing things that you didn’t before, going somewhere with new friends, even if its accompanied by the feeling of disdain.
Where you least expect it. I think the most tried-and-true piece of relationship advice is the idea that love will come to you when you least expect it, because it is so, so true. And it enforces the fact that you do (sorry to throw in the cliche) have to love yourself first, and treat yourself first, and be in a relationship with yourself first.
Where you most expect it. You shouldn’t be ashamed if you want to use a dating website or a singles mixer or whatever else they have out there. You are not weird or pathetic for wanting love but not having it. If anything, you’re someone to be admired, because you didn’t just settle for whatever came your way, you kept looking for the extraordinary. So keep looking, you never know whats around the corner.
