Did someone already inquire about Astigmatism?.. I just want to ask if it can be treated by eyeglasses?.. Thank you!

Good day po. I'm not an eye doctor but i wish this info could help.

Astigmatism is a condition where the images we see are distorted or blurred, primarily because the cornea is imperfectly- or irregularly- shaped.

Ito po ang normal na cornea

Ito naman ang example ng may astigmatism

Astigmatism can be solitary (sya lang ang problema) or with another abnormality such as nearsightedness or farsightedness.

At dahil shape ng cornea ang problema, isa sa mga pwedeng solution ay corrective lenses.

Almost all degrees of “normal” astigmatism can be corrected with properly prescribed eyeglasses or contact lenses. For a person with only a slight degree of astigmatism, corrective lenses may not be needed at all, as long as other conditions, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness, are not present. If the astigmatism is moderate to high, however, corrective glasses or contact lenses are probably needed.

Irregular astigmatism is far less common and is associated with abnormal conditions affecting the cornea (for example, keratoconus). This condition is more effectively treated with rigid gas permeable contact lenses or corneal procedures(such as refractive surgery).

So to answer your question: Yes.
In most cases... :-)
Seek professional advice for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Ah.. kung gagaling ang astigmatism with just glasses? Probably not. Anatomic defect kasi yung cause ng astigmatism so refractive surgery yung definitive treatment. LASIK yung commonly used procedure. :-)

Analogy daw ng prof sa ophtha: parang lubak sa kalsada, takpan mo ng tabla para madaanan pansamantala (corrective lenses) or latagan mo ng bagong semento / aspalto para magpantay at mawala yung lubak (refractive surgery).

ah ok.. . .  i suffer astigmatism too. . . .  before, i wear my glasses on and off, meaning, sometimes i wear them and sometimes i don't. . . .  hahahaha. . . . tigas ng ulo ano. . . .  bawas pogi points kasi ang glasses pero nung nagagalit na yung 'bantay' ko eh sige na lang din, eh di isuot na ng tama. . . .

haaays. . .   before, its not astigmatism ang problema ko talaga and i don't know what's even called like. . . . madaling masilaw ang eyes ko lalo sa umaga or basta initial exposure sa sunlight... kapag na-accustom na sa sunlight eh ayos naman at di na ako silaw na silaw..... so what i do is that i wear my sunglasses.... maybe because very seldom ako abutan ng araw sa kalsada and usually its night time ang uwi.... haaays. .. . .  pero kapag may nadaan namang chicks na malupet at hapet ang suot eh nakakakita naman agad hahahahaha. . . . joke lang. . . .  ano ba tawag dyan or normal lang ba ito. . . .  hmmmm. . . .

Sir @jamesbond pwede pong normal adaptation to light lang or pwedeng photophobia (eye discomfort in bright light). Yung photophobia pwedeng primary eye problem or dahil sa ibang medical condition.

Based sa conditions na nabanggit mo, pwedeng mabagal lang mag-adapt yung pupils mo sa bright light kasi nasanay sa low or dimmed light.

Pwede ring "selective" kasi mas mabilis mag-adapt at tumitig sa nakakasilaw na chicks. Hehehe.
