Knicks 111 vs Bulls 118

Streak busters: Bulls halt Knicks'
streak after snapping Heat's run . . .

CHICAGO -- The winning streak is
over. Bigger goals remain in play.
All the New York Knicks could do
was shrug off this one.
Nate Robinson scored a season-
high 35 points and the Chicago
Bulls stopped another lengthy
winning streak, rallying to beat
New York 118-111 in overtime
Thursday night and end the Knicks'
13-game run.
"It's over with," coach Mike
Woodson said. "You can't win them
all."
Carmelo Anthony missed a
potential winner at the end of
regulation, and Robinson took over
down the stretch, scoring eight
points in overtime to lift the Bulls
to another streak-breaking win.
"It would have been nice if Melo
knocks down that shot," Woodson
said. "We could have walked out of
here with a win. It didn't happen."
Jimmy Butler added 22 points, Luol
Deng scored 16, and the Bulls
busted a long run for the second
time in about a two-week span,
ending the Miami Heat's 27-game
streak -- second-longest in NBA
history -- on March 27.
They put the Knicks' longest streak
in nearly two decades to rest with a
huge surge in the second half,
offsetting Anthony's 36 points.
"For us, we're not focused on
stopping streaks," Robinson said.
"We're just trying to get better as a
team going into the playoffs."
Robinson appears to be in gear.
He's scored 18 or more in four
straight games, and he put the
Bulls over the top against his
former team after two ugly losses
to Detroit and Toronto.
Robinson started overtime with a
three-point play to give Chicago a
108-105 lead, and after Anthony
scored, the Bulls started to pull
away.
Deng nailed a 3-pointer, and
Robinson hit a free throw after J.R.
Smith got called for a technical
foul with 2:09 remaining for
arguing a non-call against Deng on
a missed drive. The Bulls guard
then drove for a layup to make it
114-107, and Chicago hung on
from there.
Chicago trailed by as much as 17
points and was down 79-64 in the
third quarter before going on a big
run to get back into it.
The Bulls were even up by nine --
99-90 -- after a 3 by Robinson and
layup by Butler with 5:42
remaining, but they did not get
another basket in regulation.
The Knicks finally tied it at 105
with 14.5 seconds left when a
driving Anthony got fouled by
Butler and hit both free throws.
Deng then missed an off-balance
fadeaway bank shot with 1.5
seconds left in regulation. New
York's Raymond Felton grabbed the
rebound, and after a 20-second
timeout, Anthony's long jumper hit
the rim and it went into overtime.
The loss ended the Knicks' longest
win streak since a 15-game run
from March 1 to April 2, 1994,
and left them two games ahead of
Indiana for the second seed in the
Eastern Conference with four
games remaining. New York plays
the Pacers on Sunday.
"The crazy thing is they're only
getting better," Chicago's Carlos
Boozer said. "The more talent they
put around (Anthony), the better
his team is. This year, they went
from being kind of a mediocre
team in the East the last few years
to ... top in the East for a very long
time."
Anthony, trying to become the first
Knicks player since Bernard King in
1984-85 to win a scoring title, was
off target. He hit just 13 of 34
shots after averaging 40.6 points in
the previous five games.
Smith scored 28 points and
Raymond Felton added 19, but the
Bulls hung on down the stretch in
OT to complete the four-game
sweep.
"They can have it," Anthony said.
"They can have it. They can have it.
They can have the regular-season
wins. They did a great job at
beating us four times. We're not
worrying about them at this point."
The win left fifth-place Chicago a
half-game ahead of Atlanta in the
East, and they can thank Robinson
for that. He beat his previous
season high by a point.
Deng finished with 16 points after
sitting out the previous two games
with a hip injury.
Butler came up big after scoring a
career-high 28 in Tuesday's loss to
Toronto. He ignited the crowd with
back-to-back breakaway dunks in
the third that got the turnaround
started and helped defend Anthony.
"You want to go up against the
best," Butler said. "You don't back
down from things like this. You
want to accept those challenges.
You don't back down from things
like that. He's a great player.

OKC 116 vs GS Warriors 97

Thunder roll Warriors to regain
control of West's top seed . . .

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Kevin Durant
had 31 points, 10 rebounds and
eight assists to help the Oklahoma
City Thunder regain the Western
Conference's best record with a
116-97 victory over the Golden
State Warriors on Thursday night.
Kevin Martin scored 23 points off
the bench and Russell Westbrook
added 18 points and nine assists
for the Thunder, who moved a
half-game ahead of idle San
Antonio for the top seed. The Spurs
split the season series with
Oklahoma City, but the Thunder
(58-21) own the tiebreaker because
of its better conference record.
Stephen Curry scored 22 points
and reserve Jarrett Jack had 19
points on a night the playoff-
bound Warriors lost center Andrew
Bogut to another injury. The 7-
footer left in the first quarter with
a sprained left ankle. His status is
unclear.
The Warriors (45-34) are a mere
half-game ahead of Houston for
sixth place in the West. The Rockets
hold the tiebreaker after winning
three of four this season over
Golden State, which looked every
bit like a team at the back of the
playoff pack against the defending
conference champions.
At times, even in embarrassing
fashion.
Serge Ibaka blocked Bogut's dunk
attempt at the rim in the first
quarter, then gave an extended
finger wave that even drew roars
from Golden State's 31st straight
sellout crowd announced at
19,596. Ibaka ran down court to
tip-back Durant's miss, then hit a
3-pointer and later dunked to put
Oklahoma City ahead 22-15.
Ibaka finished with 17 points,
seven rebounds and three blocks.
Durant was 10 for 16 from the
floor, helping the Thunder
outshoot the Warriors 50.6 to 44
percent.
Bogut exited with 2:55 remaining
in the quarter, went to the locker
and did not return. The team said
Bogut sprained his left ankle,
which he broke in January of 2012
and underwent microfracture on
last April.
It's unclear how Bogut was injured
and his status for Friday night's
game at the Los Angeles Lakers was
not immediately clear.
In the meantime, Durant and
Westbrook got rolling late in the
second half, including one series
sure to fill the highlights:
Westbrook finished a layup over a
defender, then blocked Curry's shot
before Durant took the ball coast-
to-coast for a soaring one-handed
dunk at full extension that again
brought the road fans to their feet
once more.
The Thunder's defense smothered
Golden State's shooters in the third
quarter to put the game away. They
started the third quarter on a 22-5
run, and they took a 94-73 lead on
Durant's 3-pointer in the final
minute of the third quarter.
Oklahoma City played the second
half without its center, too, due to
an injury that seems far less
serious. Kendrick Perkins sat out
the final 24 minutes because of
right hamstring tightness, the team
said.
With the Thunder in full control,
there was no need to play anyway.
The only drama left was whether
Durant would get his second triple-
double of the season against the
Warriors. Instead, Thunder coach
Scott Brooke replaced Durant with
8:14 remaining with his team still
up 20 points.
Durant recorded his first career
triple-double in a 119-109 win
over the Warriors in Oklahoma City
on Nov. 18.

Game Notes :

Martin left in the fourth quarter
with lower back tightness. ... The
Thunder won the season-series
3-1. ... Curry joined Ray Allen
(2005-06), Dennis Scott (1995-96)
and George McCloud (1995-96) as
the only players in NBA history to
make at least 250 3-pointers in a
season. ... Former Warriors players
Sleepy Floyd and Tom Meschery
each received standing ovations
when they were shown on the main
video screen during separate
timeouts in the first half. . .

Kevin Durant fined $ 25,000

NEW YORK -- The NBA has fined Oklahoma City star
Kevin Durant $25,000 for making a "menacing
gesture," when he pretended to slice his throat
after throwing down a big dunk during the
Thunder's victory against the Golden State Warriors
on Thursday night.
The play that led to Durant's costly celebration
occurred with about 1:45 left in the second
quarter of Oklahoma City's 116-97 win at Golden
State.
Thunder guard Russell Westbrook blocked Stephen
Curry's layup, and Durant corralled the ball and
went in for a soaring dunk at the other end of the
court. He then made a throat-slashing gesture and
crossed his hands in prayer.
"Kill 'em and pray for 'em after the game," Durant
said.
"It's nothing against the team I'm playing against,"
Durant added. "Come out with a mindset and be
friends after the game.

welcome ^^

eto pa info ulit =))

Did you know that the lowest seed
to ever win the NBA Championship
was the 1995 Houston Rockets (6th
seed), led by Hakeem Olajuwon and
Clyde Drexler? That year, the
Rockets went 48-34.

What team this year do you think
has a 'chance' to tie or even
possibly break that record? Or are
there no teams with lower seeds
that have the strengths to make a
run?

LA LAKERS 118
GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS 116

Lakers edge Warriors after
injured Kobe Bryant exits game . . .

LOS ANGELES -- Kobe Bryant
scored 34 points while playing
much of the second half in obvious
pain from his injured left leg, and
the Los Angeles Lakers rallied in
the final minutes without him to
stay in the playoff picture with a
118-116 victory over the Golden
State Warriors on Friday night.
Bryant stayed in the game until
3:06 remained despite obvious
mobility limitations and two
lengthy breaks to walk off an injury
from early in the second half. The
Lakers announced after the game
that Bryant likely has a torn
Achilles tendon and will undergo an
MRI Saturday to confirm the initial
diagnosis.
Stephen Curry scored 47 points in
a dynamic performance for the
Warriors, but Los Angeles played
just enough late defense to hang on
for a crucial win.
Los Angeles (43-37) stayed one
game ahead of Utah (42-38) for the
eighth playoff spot in the Western
Conference with two games to go.
The Jazz hold the tiebreaker.
