Whether you consider yourself a wine connoisseur or not, you could probably use this infographic to learn a thing or two about the liquid of the gods. How many calories does a typical glass of white wine versus red wine have and, more importantly, which wine should you pair with tonight's dinner? Sure, you may know that rich meats go with a bold red and that sweet desserts pair well with a dessert wine but what should you drink when you're dining on a cream-based pasta?

Wine Folly has created this beautiful chart to show us the answer to that question and more. See below for the full version.

. . .informative post. kakabrowse ko, natyempuhan ko ito...

ito naman pairing selection ko...

for cheesy based sauces - Barbera D' Asti , light Chardonnays...

creamy based sauce (carbonara, mushroom cream etc...) -Pinot Bianco, Sicilian whites or any chardonnay blends...

tomato based sauce - Montepulciano D' Abruzzo or Sicillian reds...

red meat sauce - Sicilian , Puglian reds ( san genovese , rosso di montalcino or zinfadel)

seafood based pasta - crisp dry whites (Frascati, Varnaccia, Muscadet or fuller Chardonnay.)

beans and lentils either pasta or meat - Tuscan reds is the best. I go for Chianti.

additional info...Dessert Wines

Dessert wines can be white and red in color. The white dessert wines are served chilled while the red dessert wines are served at the room temperature. Dessert wines go well with the fresh bakery sweets and fruits. It is also advisable to serve heavier taste for the winter season and lighter taste for the summer season.

Dessert wines have aromas reminding of orange peel, mango, apricot, quince, fig, raisins, honey or caramel. It is recommended to combine also dessert wines with creamy desserts. Fats and intensive cheeses match very well with sweet white dessert wines. Regarding consistency, it is recommended to combine oily dessert wines with creamy desserts and rather lights dessert wines with delicate and fine desserts.

eg:

Tiramisu ~ sherry, Madeira or Moscatel

Fondant , lava and fudgy cakes ~french Moscatel or peach or citrus and any hazelnut flavoured liquers...

...some popular dessert wines are as follows:

Muskateller
Caluso Passito
Tokajer
Málaga
Marsala
Samoswein
Madeira
Sherry
Olorosso

M.I.L.K. is an epic photographic celebration of what it is to be part of a family, share the gift of friendship and more than anything else, to be loved. Inspired by the 1950s landmark photographic exhibition "The Family of Man", M.I.L.K. began as a worldwide search to develop a collection of extraordinary and geographically diverse images portraying humanity’s "Moments of Intimacy, Laughter and Kinship" (M.I.L.K.). This search took the form of a global photographic competition in 1999.
