Just created a topic on where and why will we spent our Holy Week on a particular place......

I don't have any idea at all... Just want to know where are you guys plan on going.....And everyone can provide tips during this trips too....

Ive been to Bora and Puerto Gallera and most of luzon provinces but am planning to go to Palawan this time wish i could get there though cause i think it will cost me a lot to be there and most of all is hotel accommodation:( so am still gathering funds heheheh....

But really want to visit the place because of the peaceful view and relaxing scenery:)

Puerto Princesa + El Nido


Puerto Princesa City Tour, Island Hopping and Underground River  is a popular activity when in the island and most travel agencies and their partner hotels offer  for Php 1000-1600 per person. It’s a good price considering you’re riding comfortably in an air-conditioned van and it’s inclusive of the entrance fees to the attractions + lunch. For this holly week no chance for you to get cheaper flights and hotels. No need for advance booking for hotels and tours, you can grab them at the airport..

Are you Travelling alone??? because if you are in group you can hire a private van for 12500 php going to El Nido, + 1500 per day.



If you're a solo traveler ,  then take a bus or van from Puerto Princesa to El Nido estimated travel time is 9-10 hours. Non-ac bus at San Jose terminal leaves at  530am, 7am and 9am. Air-con Shuttle Van: at Puerto Princessa’s new market bus station between 6 and 9 AM in the morning and 1 to 2PM in the afternoon.

Palaui Island is a protected landscape and seascape nestled in the northeastern most part of  Cagayan Valley, Philippines.  It is interesting to note that the last kilometer marker (642) up north of  Luzon is found in San Vicente port which is the jump off point to Palaui Island.



How to get to Palui Island in Cagayan Valley from Manila, Philippines:

by Bus to Sta.Ana, Cagayan:

The best way to  get to Palaui Island is by taking a bus bound to Aparri and Sta Ana.  Florida Bus will bring you to Sta. Ana, Cagayan,  you may also take Victory Liner bus or other buses bound to Tuguegarao City, Cagayan then take a tricycle to the bus station of Florida Bus. There are vans bound to Sta. Ana, Cagayan but if you happen to take a day trip to Tuguegarao from Manila, you will arrive at night and miss the last trip of the bus, if that’s the case, you can stay at the Florida bus station and wait for the next bus to arrive to take you to Sta. Ana.  I highly recommend that you take the Florida bus instead since it’ll take you directly to Sta.Ana, Cagayan.

By plane:

If you’re taking a plane to Tuguegarao, you can just walk outside the airport, a few meters away is the highway leading to Sta. Ana.  Cross the street and wait for vans  or bus bound to Sta.Ana, Cagayan.

From Sta.Ana Cagayan to San Vicente port:

The bus and vans will stop at the market of Sta.Ana where you can buy food, water and booze at the market.  Then take a quadcycle / tricycle to Sta Vicente port. Take note of the  642 kilometer, that’s the  last kilometer marker up north.   There’ a Php 50 fee that you need to pay for before going to the island and you have to sign in the log book at Punta Verde.

At San Vicente port, you can hire boats to Palaui Island.  To avoid getting lost, please get a guide, you would need to log in  the log book of the community, this is for your safety.  Palaui Island is surrounded by thick virgin forest,  and mad waves, so trust me, get a guide!

If the sea is calm, the boat can take you directly to  Cape Engaño lighthouse, no trekking required.

*Activities in Palui Island*

-swimming, beach bumming, snorkeling, diving, game fishing, adventure trekking, camping, sunset watching, last kilometer marker for Luzon (KM 642), colonial  lighthouse Cape Engaño.
- bring your own camping equipment and flashlight, there’s no guesthouse, hotel or resort in the island, you can ask around in Punta Verde (the fishing village in Palaui) for a room to stay overnight but the best option is to camp in the beach near Cape Engaño lighthousebut make sure you bring your own food and potable water.

-bring your own snorkeling gear since the waters around Palaui Island is part of a marine reserve

-ask your guide where the freshwater spring is, so you can wash up there the next day. The island is actually a watershed having several waterfalls.

-on the northeast side of the island you can see two islands: the Dos Hermanas (two sisters). Further away you can also see Camiguin de Babuyanes island.

- for the more adventurous soul, try hiking the East side of the Island to the West but again, make sure you have a guide with you to avoid getting lost. The seascape and landscape on that part is reminiscent of  Batanes.

-the trek to the lighthouse will take you through a coastal community, mangrove forest, inter-tidal zone, agricultural area, forest and some grassland before getting to Cape Engaño lighthouse.

Anguib Beach- is another white sand beach in Sta. Ana, Cagayan . To get to Anguib beach you can take  a boat ride for Php 1500 for boat ride for 30 minutes or hike (look for a local guide).

Carabao Island, Romblon, popularly known as Hambil to the locals, exudes with gorgeous coastlines and turquoise beaches blissfully devoid of  luxury trappings. Overshadowed by its sister – the world famous hedonistic Boracay, this unassuming island has managed to retain its serenity.



Here’s a travel guide to help you plan your holiday in Carabao Island.

 

How to get to Carabao Island:


The nearest airport is in Caticlan, the gateway to BoracayIsland, you can also fly to Kalibo (Aklan).

Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines (PAL) flies to Caticlan from Manila and Cebu. They also have flights to Kalibo. Meanwhile Tigerair Philippinesa and Airasia Zest also flies to Kalibo from Manila.

Getting to Carabao Island from Caticlan:

From CaticlanAirport, charter a tricycle to take you to the port of boats to Hambil (San Jose). Locals call CarabaoIsland as Hambil.

From Caticlan port where you take the boat to Boracay, it’s about a 20 minute walk.  If you need directions, use Hambil (not CarabaoIsland) when asking around for directions. You may take a tricycle but the fare is pretty hefty.

Boats to Carabao Island / Hambil from Caticlan:

Large passenger boats that can accommodate up to 60 people leaves for San Jose; Brgy.Poblacion (the main town center) or Brgy. Lanas.  Boats leave at 8:30 AM daily, they only have one trip per day. So if you plan to do CarabaoIsland as a day trip, charter a boat instead,travel time is about 1 hour.

Boats From Carabao Island /Hambil back to Caticlan:

The passenger boat to Caticlan leaves at 5:30 AM daily. So be there early as they depart on time!

Boats to Carabao Island/Hambil from Boracay

If you are pressed for time and you want to do Carabao Island as a day trip, you can just charter a boat to Carabao Island / Hambil for about Php 1,500-2,000 depending on your haggling skill. The boat normally stops at Brgy.Lanas.

A cheaper option is to find boats owned by locals of  Hambil in Bulabog Beach, Boracay. Ask around for boats going back to Hambil/Carabao Island. Fare is Php50-Php80, travel time is about 30 minutes. Normally leaves around 5PM.

 

Getting to Carabao Island via Tablas Island (Romblon)

From Batangas port there are ferries bound to Tablas Island Romblon. Travel time is 8-10 hours. Fare is around Php 700-800. The ferry to Manila from Odiongan usually leaves at 6PM.

At Odiongan, hop on a jeep bound to Sta. Fe at the jeep terminal near Odiongan public market. Travel time is about 1hour.

Boats to Carabao Island from Tablas Island (Romblon):

The passenger boat to Hambil/Carabao Island from Sta.Fe in TablasIsland (Romblon) leaves daily at 9:30 AM. Travel time 1hour.

It leaves Hambil/Carabao Island at 5:30 AM.  Travel time is about 1hour.

Going back:

From Sta. Fe to Odiongan (Romblon) there is a jeep waiting for passengers to Odiongan.  Travel time is about 1hour. The ferry to Manila from Odiongan usually leaves at 6PM.

There are limited accommodations in Carabao Island.

This is one of the uniquely natural attractions in the northern part of the Philippines. How to go to Hundred Islands National Park by bus:

Board a bus bound to Alaminos, Pangasinan, try Victory Liner in Cubao, fare is about Php 500 if coming from Manila. Travel time is 3-4 hours.  Once you reach Alaminos, head to Lucap Terminal where tricycles can take you to Lucap Wharf the jump-off point for island hopping,  however it only leaves once full.  Alternatively, you can charter a tricycle all the way to Lucap Wharf.

At Lucas Wharf, you need to register and pay the Hundred Island Park Fees.

The biggest is Quezon Island, where a hotel-type accommodation can be booked. The rooms cost as low as P1,500 per day for 2 persons when off-peak.

There are also several choices of accommodation in the mainland, without having to go to the individual islands. When you do it this way, you can simply rent boats to visit the different islands. The boat ride offered great views, relaxation and pure fun just hopping from island to island. Water is great and perfect for snorkeling

Marcos Island is the best clear waters and you can jump off in Imelda's Cave.

Bags/Luggage and Personal things are safe and will be watched by your boatman.

Go straight at the Tourism Office.

The fare is Php 800 per person, one way and the journey takes between 8 - 10 hours, depending upon the ferry schedule and traffic conditions. The first trip each day is at 6.00am (06:00hrs). If you book ahead then you can also catch the Bulalacao bus at Dimple Star's Pasay terminal near the corner of EDSA and Taft Avenue.

Marinduque(recomended for holly week) lies between Tayabas Bay to the north and Sibuyan Sea to the south. It is located south and west of Quezon, east of Mindoro, and north of Romblon. The Province is the genuine home of the century old Moriones Festival.Gear up for the Moriones Festival 2014! Marinduque’s much-awaited festival – a week-long colorful celebration of the Lenten Season.  The well-known fest starts on Palm Sunday  of the Holy Week and ends on Easter Sunday.Moriones is coined from the word word “morion” that pretty much means mask.  During the Moriones Festival, some locals wear the outfit and masks of Roman Soldiers.  The highlight of the festival is the the Via Crusis  every Good Friday; a re-enactment of the Passion of Christ.

Marinduque Province is composed of six (6) towns namely Mogpog, Sta. Cruz, Torrijos, Buenavista, Gasan, and Boac (the capital town). Take note that each town celebrates Moriones Festival; meaning festival can be watched in every town of the province.

HOW TO GET THERE

By Land and Sea
From Metro Manila, ride in a bus bound to Grand Central Terminal of Lucena City (Quezon) where passenger jeepneys and tricycles bound to Talao-Talao Port are available. To avoid the hassle of transferring from one transport to another, better to find buses with direct route to Talao-talao Port. Travel time from Metro Manila to Talao-talao Port is approximately 3-4 hours depending on traffic in Laguna and Quezon.
From Talao-talao Port, there are RoRo vessels and fastcrafts with regular trip to the island province. Take note that there are 3 main ports in the province – Buyabod Pier (Sta. Cruz), Cawit Port (Boac), and Balanacan Port (Mogpog). Travel time ranges from 3-4 hours for RoRO and 2 – 2.5 hours if via fastcraft.

By Air
The plane ride is only about 30 minutes, but since the only airline that flies to Marinduque is Zest Air, there is usually at least an hour delay. Which is what happened. From the airport, it’s a 40-minute van ride, which was sent by Bellarocca. From there, I had to go on a 5-minute boat ride to Buenavista, the elephant island that Bellarocca was built on. I heard that it was developed by a Japanese group, so I  speculated that it was a ~Battle Royale~ kind of situation. Which I would would mean that I would probably die upon disembarking the boat.
Food and Beverage are adequately available at the Resort. The bringing in of food and beverage items into the premises is strongly discouraged by management.

By Land
JAC LINER from Buendia, Pasay City going to Marinduque. It took more than 3 hours from Pasay City to Dalahican Port in Lucena City, where the bus rolled into an awaiting RoRo (Roll On Roll Off) vessel. It again took more than 3 hours before the vessel landed in the post in Marinduque province. The bus rolled off the vessel and proceeded with its journey.



Island Hoping in GASAN.. Tres Reyes Islands: The Tres Reyes Islands in Barangay Pinggan, named after the Three Kings of the Nativity, are a potential tourist destination. True to its name, the island chain consists of three islands named Gaspar, Melchor and Baltazar and are visible from any point of the Gasan coastline. Reaching the islands takes about 30–45 minutes by boat.

Talao Cave: Talao Cave in Barangay Tiguion is a series of twelve caves accessible from three mountain trails that can only be crossed on foot. The caves are located in the midst of a rain forest.



Tips..
 5 oclock in the afternoon. Grab a beer (and some more) and check a nice place by the sea with a good view of the horizon in the long stretch of Gasan town's shore facing west. Watch fishing boats passing by and children playfully enjoying the water. Till you get comfortably numb.


Torrijos Beach Park

Located at the opposite side of the heart-shaped island of Marinduque with respect to the capital town Boac is the town of Torrijos. Beaches here are of white sands. Right at the town center's coast is the Torrijos Beach Park. When we stopped by the place for 30minutes, there were many children playing around on this well-manicured grass-covered park overlooking the calm waters of Sibuyan Sea.

There is a stair leading to the sea shore. Discovere a lot of multi-colored stones awashed by the shore that you chose and took some planning to make them as pendants.

Talisayin Cove is a sitio of Barangay Pundaquit – one of the 14 barangays of the 3rd class municipality of San Antonio in the province of Zambales.The road to Pundaquit is a narrow but amazingly well constructed concrete road. At Pundaquit proper, you will have several beach resorts to choose from. At these resorts, you can directly hire a fishing boat to take you to Capones Island It is just one of the pristine coves nestled along the Zambales coastline where visitors are treated to a more relaxed and quiet environment.

From Pundaquit to Capones Island, Anawangin  Cove and Camara Island:

The island  is  accessible by a  15-20 minute boat ride from Pundaquit, San Antonio, and Zambales . For Anawangin, another route is by a 4-6 hour trek through open trails thru the Pundaquit mountain range where you can also hire a guide at the jump off point.

Iligan City, the bustling metropolis of Lanao del Norte is best-known for the poster girl of the province – Maria Cristina Falls.  Though it is hemmed by 23 gorgeous falls, this land hailed as the City of Magnificent Waterfalls doesn’t thrive mainly on tourism.  Colossal factories poured into the city’s vast industrial park that further strengthened their economy.  A trip outside the city center will give visitors an eyeful of the city’s natural beauty.





How to get to Iligan City:
1. From Manila to Iligan (by plane via Cagayan de Oro)

 The nearest airport to Iligan City is at the neighboring Cagayan de Oro City – Lumbia Airport.

Cagayan de Oro City to Iligan (by bus)

From Cagayan de Oro City Airport, take a bus bound to Iligan City at Bulua Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal , travel time is 1.5 hours.

You may take a cab or multi-cab to Bulua Integrated Bus and Jeepney Terminal from the city proper. They also have trips to Ozamiz, El Salvador, Marawi, Dipolog, Oroquieta, Pagadian, and Zamboanga.

*The Laguindingan International Airport in Iligan City has soft opened last June 15, 2013 and should be completed by June 2014.  The airport will replace the Lumbia Airport of  Cagayan de Oro and will now service flights to and from Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro.  (airport is now open confirmed by Godfrey Gemal).

How to get to Maria Christina Falls :

From the city proper, ride a tricycle to take you to the terminal of jeeps bound to Buru-un. Make sure you remind the driver that you will alight at MariaCristinaFalls.  Travel time is less than 20 minutes.  Alight after the steel bridge and cross the road to the entrance of the NPCNaturePark.  Take an uphill walk for less than 10 minutes.

At NPCNaturePark, pay the necessary fees. Entrance fee is Php 35 for adults, Php 25 for kids and seniors.  Add Php 10 for the roundtrip shuttle fare.

Hinatuan, a sleepy town in Surigao del Sur  in Mindanao has risen to fame because of Enchanted River.  The area has been developed; picnic tables and cottages have been built and the once pristine river is now akin to a pool. Despite these changes, the deep blue basin remains majestic.  Since the Enchanted River in Surigao del Sur is now flocked by tourists, to better appreciate its beauty, it is advisable to go there early in the morning to avoid the crowd especially during weekends and holidays.





How to get to Enchanted River in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur:

* From Manila, you can fly to  Butuan, Surigao or Davao. Best option is Butuan since airfare is usually cheaper.

* Take note that Bus bound to Bislig have signboards showing Mangagoy and not Bislig. Mangagoy is the the commercial center of Bislig.

From Butuan, Agusan del Norte to Hinatuan/Enachanted River:

If you are coming from Butuan Integrated Bus Terminal in Butuan, Agusan del Norte, there are Bachelor buses that go directly to Mangagoy (Bislig). Ask the driver to drop you off at Hinatuan Terminal. Travel time is roughly 5 hours.

From San Franz, Agusan del Sur:

There are vans that go directly to Hinatuan.

From Mangagoy, Bislig:

Ride a bus or van bound to Hinatuan.

 From Davao City to Enchanted River Hinatuan:

At Ecoland Terminal ride a Bachelor bus bound to Mangagoy (Bislig). Ask the driver to drop you in Hinatuan Terminal; it is the last bus stop before arriving in Mangagoy, Bislig. Travel time is roughly 5 hours.

From Hinatuan to Enchanted River:

At Hinatuan town, there are habal-habal  (motorcycle) for hire. Usual rate is Php 100 per person (roundtrip). The motorcycle can accommodate up to 3 persons. So if you are alone, expect to pay the pakyaw rate of Php 300-Php400. Some drivers would usually add Php 100 for the waiting time, so don’t be surprise if you’ll be asked to pay Php 400. The road to Enchanted River is not yet cemented, it is going to be a bumpy ride (the scariest habal-habal ride I ever took in Mindanao). There is no helmet so please be careful, hold on tight to the driver or to your travel buddies.
Hinatuan is known for its delicious seafood.  A few meters away from the entrance of the Enchanted River, there are locals selling fresh seafood at affordable prices.  For an extra fee, they will cook it for you and deliver to your picnic table.

Take a bus bound to Butuan.  Travel time to Butuan is 3 hours, Butuan to Mangagoy is 5 hours. Alternatively, you may just take a bus bound to Davao City and get off at San Franz. Then take a van bound to Mangagoy(Bislig).
