I used to work for Intel (in Cavite) before it was closed down :( :( :(
All I can say is that both Intel and AMD do not have a chip that has the same design on a 1 to 1 level to be able to accurately say that one is better than the other. One will claim better on some things and the other claims it is better on others. Have you even noticed that if you looked at the cores and operating frequency, no Intel or AMD matches? Each design will always try to out do the other - be it in overclock or in cores or in video or whatever.

There are a lot of reviews and details over the internet on the cons and pros of each product. Essentially, your decision boils down to budget.
I prefer Intel but have been using AMD for about 3yrs with no issues based on my utilization.

Hello po, work with AMD from 1989 until 1996 as I/O compiler (early programmers). and yes what Sir Glen1234s mentioned on both Intel and AMD is correct nothing on both can be seen to compare each other. it is just always preference (in my opinion). Also, utilizing what both can offer also a very important factor when buying. People may always tend to go for powerful processor, but ask yourself, can you utilize it's speed? Maybe it is too fast for you to know what uses you can with what you wanted to buy. :):):) opinion ko lang po. I am still working with processors, yun nga lang in General na, I am currently working as System Manager in a high tech environment, but still can't see if we really utilize the power of each of our XEON processors. Peace to everyone!

Sir Naruto...

I am using a Ryzen 7 (desktop at home) and an I7 (laptop sa work). I do simple games (starcraft and warcraft) as well as programming. I do minimal video and picture editing and a lot of MS Office. I do not see any difference based on my usage. Or maybe the difference is in mobility.
My home setup is that I have 3 monitors (needed for my coding work and not for games although I have not tried a game that would utilize the 3 monitors simultaneously. I only have the normal fan and heat sink - none of the high end expensive stuff. I don't have issues with performance - at least not yet because I am not really using it for long periods of time but even if I did, I think I have sufficient fans to allow for heat dissipation.
If I bought an i7 processor instead and still have the same current spec - it would have cost me about 30% more (processor and motherboard) and that savings I used to buy additional memory (from 8G - 16G), an additional SDD, and a licensed OS. So value for my money goes to AMD Ryzen in my case.

I would recommend that you buy an i7 :) (still am a fan of intel).... but I am satisfied with my AMD Ryzen 7 setup...

sirs my old PC is an i3 with gtx 750ti
now am planning to get the ryzen 5 1600 this Dec, i am still saving for the RX 580
i am not a techie so i am asking if i am going about it the right way. upgrade the processor first the the GPU later. somehow ryzen will eat up all the budget with the added cost of the MOBO SSD and RAM
thanks in advance for the help

i think what you're doing sir is not advisable since you're almost building a new one with that upgrade... why not build a new one already and sell your old one..
