'The Fappening' Hacker Pleads Guilty

If you cast your mind back to 2014, you might remember a pretty vile time that was dubbed ‘The Fappening’.

It was when a whole host of female stars had their private pictures leaked onto the Internet after hacker Ryan Collins gained illegal access to their iCloud accounts and stole them.



Now Collins has pleaded guilty to the charges against him and reportedly faces up to five years in prison over the incident - although he is expected to serve just eighteen months due to his guilty plea.

According to TMZ, Collins hacked into the Apple and Gmail accounts of eighteen celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence and Scarlett Johansson, between November 1st 2012 and September 2nd 2014.



Actress J-Law was one of the worst affected stars and at the time dubbed Collins’ actions as a “six crime” after her nude photos swept across the Internet.

She explained: “It is not a scandal. It is a six crime. It is a sixual violation. It’s disgusting.

"The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That’s why these Websites are responsible.



"Just the fact that somebody can be sixually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody’s mind is to make a profit from it.

"It’s so beyond me. I just can’t imagine being that detached from humanity. I can’t imagine being that thoughtless and careless and so empty inside.”

Here’s hoping that justice will well and truly be served.
